TWO GUNS SEIZED, TWO ARRESTED
(9/8/2006) NEW HAVEN – Two men were arrested yesterday, 7 September 2006, after police received information that they were carrying weapons.
Detective Peter Carusone of the department’s firearms unit received information that three men traveling in a red Jeep in Newhallville were in possession of guns. The Jeep was spotted in the area of Presidential Gardens, where a recent murder victim’s family resides, and was stopped in the area of Dixwell Avenue and West Hazel Street. Two men were apprehended while a third man eluded capture by the police. Officers seized two loaded .45-caliber guns.
Wilbur House, 21, of Hamden, was arrested and charged with weapons violations. The driver of the vehicle, Roger Sullivan, 29, of New Haven, faces motor vehicle charges. Both men have previous felony convictions.
According to Sergeant Andrew Muro of the Investigative Services Division, the department has “stepped up patrols in the area in response to recent violence.”
